"citrus striped afternoon" oil on illustration board | 15 W x 20 H

$750.00

oil on Crescent 99.3 cold press illustration board.

15 × 20 in.

signed and dated 2013, lower right.

ready to frame.

this began as an ordinary afternoon — light coming across a table, a striped cloth, one orange left behind. i painted it from observation, but the longer i looked the more the room dissolved into planes. shadow became shape. drapery became stripe. the cobalt form on the right holds its ground by temperature alone, no outline needed.

the orange is the only curve in the picture. it refuses to flatten. i have always been drawn to the one thing in a room that won't surrender its roundness.

i chose oil on rigid board for the way the surface holds a stroke — matte, direct, no absorption into canvas weave. the paint sits where it was set down.

what i hope you feel: the particular stillness of a warm afternoon, and the quiet pleasure of noticing.

arrives unframed. board is rigid and ships flat. float mounting or a simple frame with spacers preserves the painted edge.
